Very professional on concise summaries with some great recommendations. Some of the ideas/recommendations are low cost quick wins.
Since partnering with BioSynchronistics we have received nothing but positive feedback from our employees regarding the ESI Wellness program. The ESI Wellness team is proactive in addressing the symptoms of our employees and asking the right questions to determine the root cause of their issue. Additionally, they provide us with recommendations for improvements to workstation setups in order to improve ergonomics and prevent symptoms from re-occurring.
I would recommend the ESI program to any company looking to be proactive in treating and reducing the number of musculoskeletal disorders within their workforce.
I am an Operations Manager at Yankee Gas. I had an operational challenge. My physical workers were experiencing an unacceptable level of soft tissue injuries and lingering strains and strains. I had tried stretching, incentives and work process redesign.
About 10 weeks ago I was introduced the new concept of Early Symptom Intervention Wellness. I met with Carol Tschirpke and discussed how her approach would benefit the overall “ready to work” status of my workers. We agreed on a pilot project and based on the results I could not be more pleased. Almost all my workforce has taken part in the pilot program. 80% of the participants have experienced significant improvement of their symptoms. The program has brought empowerment to the participating employees, they no longer have to suffer with the pain. They can be pain free.
We began using Early Symptom Intervention Wellness as a pilot program at two of our work centers in April. Over the past 10 weeks, we have seen a remarkable improvement with not only the physical well-being and conditioning of the employees, but with the overall morale in the work environment. The work areas have fully embraced ESI’s unique approach and have been overwhelmingly satisfied with their results. Feedback from employee surveys show that 100% of participants view this program as an outstanding addition to our safety and wellness program and would recommend it to any employee who feels pain or discomfort within their body.
At the completion of the pilot, we plan to continue working with ESI by expanding this program to all 14 of our area work centers. Northeast Utilities Gas Business fully endorses this program.
I just had a chance to review the data that you dropped off at my desk….VERY IMPRESSIVE! This information is truly priceless and tells a fantastic story! During a presentation with the Core Team today, we reviewed the OSHA numbers….only 1 recordable since July and 0 Lost Time incidents since July. The question was asked, “what has changed to see such a dramatic drop in the numbers?”
I explained that it was due to ESI….increased communication, quick response to discovered issues, PM groups, specific body part groups, industrial stretching program and the trust of our employees. We are firing on all cylinders, working 90K hours per month and we can expect and prepare for breakdowns in the workforce. I know I see you all the time and we talk often…but, as a vendor of your services, I am not sure that I say THANK YOU enough. You and your team are doing fantastic work that is not intangible or unable to be captured. Data never lies and trends are trends for a reason. Thanks for taking the time to generate these reports and making my job easier.
The Early Symptom Intervention Program at KARL STORZ ENDOVISION, Inc. is credited as a critical success factor supporting a 92% reduction in OSHA Recordable musculoskeletal injuries over a 3 year period. The engaged and caring staff at ESI has provided one to one coaching and education, as well as interactive “on the floor” education and awareness to high risk ergonomic hazards. Positive reinforcement helps empower employees and management act quickly and responsibly to adverse symptoms, and to act with confidence and knowledge to prevent injuries from occurring.
During our last OSHA survey, the OSHA surveyor commented specifically about the positive aspects of ESI during our exit survey. He found the PREVENTATIVE nature of the program to be a direct contributor to decline in both the number and severity of ergonomic issues in our building from the year prior to our company working with ESI and following our first full year partnered with them. He further commented that an additional benefit of the program was the positive morale that employees reported with having a program they could go to ahead of time before any issues, vs. reactionary after an injury or problem occurred.
When Quality Physical Therapy, Inc. came into our organization their team demonstrated knowledge, experience and professionalism throughout their engagement. More importantly QPT identified multiple improvements for our employees in regards to ergonomics and quality of life while performing their daily job tasks. Their team continually works with our employees and engages them in point of issue exercises, which in turn has significantly decreased the requests I was receiving for accommodations.
As a participant of QPT’s program myself, I am truly amazed at how each therapist comes to know you and your body and the benefits received are virtually long term. As a supervisor to employees that receive this program, happy bodies make happy, productive employees.
We initiated the ESI Program February of this year and it has seen great success. Employees have had very positive comments and experiences. Evaluations demonstrate a marked decrease and or elimination of pain and discomfort. Employee comments include:
“I have had this pain for 20 years and now it is gone”
“I won’t need to go to the doctor for this anymore”
“I now have more flexibility in this arm – it’s back to normal”
Additionally, it has helped contribute to positive morale with employees who have gone through the program; they have commented on how appreciative they are that the college has provided this service for them. I look forward to continued positive results from this program.
